The President of India DR. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam's Speech in Hyderabad .
Why is the media here so negative?
Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our achievements?
We are such a great nation. We have so many amazing success stories but we refuse to acknowledge them. Why? We are the first in milk production. We are number one in Remote sensing satellites. We are the second largest producer of wheat. We are the second largest producer of rice.
Look at Dr. Sudarshan, he has transferred the tribal village into a self-sustaining, self-driving unit. There are millions of such achievements but our media is only obsessed in the bad news and failures and disasters.
I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was the day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place. The Hamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert into an orchid and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in the newspaper, buried among other news.
In India we only read about death, sickness, terrorism, crime.. Why are we so NEGATIVE? Another question: Why are we, as a nation so obsessed with foreign things? We want foreign TVs, we want foreign shirts. We want foreign technology.
Why this obsession with everything imported. Do we not realize that self-respect comes with self-reliance? I was in Hyderabad giving this lecture, when a 14 year old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked her what her goal in life is. She replied: I want to live in a developed India. For her, you and I will have to build this developed India . You must proclaim. India is not an under-developed nation; it is a highly developed nation.

Do you have 10 minutes? Allow me to come back with a vengeance.
Got 10 minutes for your country? If yes, then read; otherwise, choice is yours.
YOU say that our government is inefficient.
YOU say that our laws are too old.
YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage.
YOU say that the phones don't work, the railways are a joke. The airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their destination.
YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute pits.
YOU say, say and say. What do YOU do about it?
Take a person on his way to Singapore. Give him a name - 'YOURS'. Give him a face - 'YOURS'. YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your International best. In Singapore you don't throw cigarette butts on the roads or eat in the stores. YOU are as proud of their Underground links as they are. You pay $5 (approx. Rs. 60) to drive through Orchard Road (equivalent of Mahim Causeway or Pedder Road) between 5 PM and 8 PM. YOU come back to the parking lot to punch your parking ticket if you have over stayed in a restaurant or a shopping mall irrespective of your status identity… In Singapore you don't say anything, DO YOU? YOU wouldn't dare to eat in public during Ramadan, in Dubai . YOU would not dare to go out without your head covered in Jeddah. YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephone exchange in London at 10 pounds (Rs.650) a month to, 'see to it that my STD and ISD calls are billed to someone else.'YOU would not dare to speed beyond 55 mph (88 km/h) in Washington and then tell the traffic cop, 'Jaanta hai main kaun hoon (Do you know who I am?). I am so and so's son. Take your two bucks and get lost.' YOU wouldn't chuck an empty coconut shell anywhere other than the garbage pail on the beaches in Australia and New Zealand .
Why don't YOU spit Paan on the streets of Tokyo? Why don't YOU use examination jockeys or buy fake certificates in Boston??? We are still talking of the same YOU. YOU who can respect and conform to a foreign system in other countries but cannot in your own. You who will throw papers and cigarettes on the road the moment you touch Indian ground. If you can be an involved and appreciative citizen in an alien country, why cannot you be the same here in India?
Once in an interview, the famous Ex-municipal commissioner of Bombay, Mr. Tinaikar, had a point to make. 'Rich people's dogs are walked on the streets to leave their affluent droppings all over the place,' he said. 'And then the same people turn around to criticize and blame the authorities for inefficiency and dirty pavements. What do they expect the officers to do? Go down with a broom every time their dog feels the pressure in his bowels?
In America every dog owner has to clean up after his pet has done the job. Same in Japan. Will the Indian citizen do that here?' He's right. We go to the polls to choose a government and after that forfeit all responsibility.
We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect the government to do everything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative. We expect the government to clean up but we are not going to stop chucking garbage all over the place nor are we going to stop to pick a up a stray piece of paper and throw it in the bin. We expect the railways to provide clean bathrooms but we are not going to learn the proper use of bathrooms.
We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food and toiletries but we are not going to stop pilfering at the least opportunity.
This applies even to the staff that is known not to pass on the service to the public.
When it comes to burning social issues like those related to women, dowry, girl child! and others, we make loud drawing room protestations and continue to do the reverse at home. Our excuse? 'It's the whole system which has to change, how will it matter if I alone forego my sons' rights to a dowry.' So who's going to change the system?
What does a system consist of? Very conveniently for us it consists of our neighbours, other households, other cities, other communities and the government. But definitely not me and YOU. When it comes to us actually making a positive contribution to the system we lock ourselves along with our families into a safe cocoon and look into the distance at countries far away and wait for a Mr. Clean to come along & work miracles for us with a majestic sweep of his hand or we leave the country and run away.
Like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to bask in their glory and praise their system. When New York becomes insecure we run to England. When England experiences unemployment, we take the next flight out to the Gulf. When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to be rescued and brought home by the Indian government. Everybody is out to abuse and rape the country. Nobody thinks of feeding the system. Our conscience is mortgaged to money.
Dear Indians, The article is highly thought inductive, calls for a great deal of introspection and pricks one's conscience too…. I am echoing J. F. Kennedy's words to his fellow Americans to relate to Indians…..
'ASK WHAT WE CAN DO FOR INDIA AND DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO MAKE INDIA WHAT AMERICA AND OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES ARE TODAY'
Lets do what India needs from us.
Forward this mail to each Indian for a change instead of sending Jokes or junk mails.
Thank you,
Dr. Abdul Kalam

I humbly request you to forward this to every Indian…… ……… ……… …

Radhe Krishna To All,
Securing the company of a Sadhu is the result of good merits (`punya') earned in crores of janmas. So says Adi Sankara in Viveka Choodamani. The `janma' in which you attain a Sadguru is verily your last `janma'.

A dog, when beckoned, runs to eat the food thrown at it. The man picks up a stick and beats the dog with it. Unable to bear the pain of the beating, the dog decides not to come running to this fellow the next day if he were to beckon. But, the next day it runs up when called, having forgotten the vow, and gets beaten up along with the food thrown. In the same way, in this life we face some problem or the other. While faced with the problem we vow not to indulge in life but to dedicate our life to attain Bhagavan. But, once the pain of the suffering vanishes we forget the vow and step into the drama of life - only to suffer all over again! When a snake catches a frog, it takes almost a day for it to swallow the frog. Meanwhile the frog caught from behind has its face turned outwards. It puts out its tongue and keeps swallowing the flies that fall on to it! It is being pulled into death in the form of the snake but the frog, unaware of it, is enjoying its food! In the same way Yama (the God of death) has his hand on our neck; yet we are trying to snatch as much fun and frolic out of this life even while moving towards death!

Once Pattinathar found people weeping over a dead relative in their home. Pattinathar sat on the pyol of the house and began to weep, too. The relatives stopped crying and came out to find out in what way was this man (Pattinathar) related to the dead. They asked him, "Who are you? We have never seen you
before. How are you related to the dead?" Pattinathar said to them, "I am weeping for the `live' corpses that are crying for the `dead corpse'!" Every one is going to meet death some day but without realizing this we weep for the dead!

A snake catches a frog and tries to swallow it. A snake's throat is very small. It is unable to swallow the frog. Both the snake and the frog suffer and finally both of them die. Thus, if one embraces a Guru who is not of the highest
order, both the Guru and the sishya (disciple) would fall headlong.

!!! Will continue !!!

Subject: The Importance of Being a Brahmin
Date: Sunday, 6 July, 2008, 5:57 PM
Dear Friends,Vedas describe the origin of Brahmins in detail. "Brahmano Syamugha Maaseedhu" . Brahmins have originated from the face of Brahman, so says the Vedas. There were saints who have attained realization and knowledge by virtue of meditation, penance and contemplation. They have set the standard of life which have come to be known as Sanatana Dharma. These Rishies have got married and allowed their generations to grow and prosper.
Brahmin community belongs to different Gothrams like Athreya Gothram, Aupamanya Gothram, Bharadwaja Gothram, Koundinya Gothram, Kousika Gothram, Tharakayana Gothram etc. All these Gothrams are derived from the name of respective Rishies and those coming in the lineage of a particular Rishi are named after the name of that Rishi. For instance, Bharadwaja Gothram indicates that the people belonging to this sect originated from the family of Bharadwaja Muni.
The Munis were the enlightened sages and they passed on their knowledge, wisdom and culture through their generations. Every generation has gained fresh knowledge by assimilating the new thoughts that emerged from time to time. So a Brahmin embodies the accumulated knowledge of all his forefathers who are traced to saints belonging to Vedic past.
When the embryo of the baby is formed, it inherits all the accumulated knowledge of earlier generations but once the baby is born, it severs its connection with the past. This detachment is marked by the cutting of umbilical cord. The childhood passes away and the boy becomes a youth. The childhood stage is considered as an intervening period between birth and Brahmacharya. Now what is the link that traces him to his hoary past? What is the link that connects him to the collective wisdom of the past? The Vedic link that the child lost when the umbilical cord is cut is now re-established in the form of Yagnopaveetham. In other words, the Yagnopaveetham (Poonal) serves as an umbilical cord that connects him, not just his immediate parents, not just the three generations but the entire tree of generations and the Rishi on whose root the whole tree flourished.
The childhood is the stage when the boy prepares himself by nurturing noble qualities. As he attains the right age, he is initiated into the order of Brahmacharya. Poonal is the mark of his formal entry into Brahminhood. It gives him an authority to pursue his spiritual path. He is now supposed to cultivate the habit of devotion and discipline. He is supposed to find a Guru who would lead him to the path of Jnana. He is supposed to acquire knowledge by reading scriptures and Vedic texts so that he can equip himself to face the future with confidence and reach the right destination.
Poonal is not a mere symbol to identify a community. One who wears a Poonal may not necessarily be a Brahman and one who does not wear a Poonal may not be a non-Brahmin either. Poonal has a sanctity of its own and one has to qualify himself for wearing it, not by birth alone but by practice. He alone is a Brahmin who does his Nithya Karmas, follows the path of Sanatana Dharma and remain free from ego, avarice, anger and pride. Bharatiyar has thrown his Poonal away saying "Nadu Arintha Parppanukku Poonal Etharkku?" (What is the use of a Poonal for one whom the world knows as Brahmin?). He was wrong. Poonal is not something that is worn for the world to know. It is for the realization of Brahman within. But one who has thrown away his Poonal but has led a life of truth (like Bharatiyar) is nobler compared to one who wears his Poonal but does nothing to justify it. There also prevails a wrong notion that Avani Avittam is an occasion to make up the deficiencies of the past. It is an occasion when you commit yourself to do your Nithyakarmas and duties diligently, as in the past, so in future.
Yours truly,
V.S.Krishnan

Bose - the Indian behind the Big Bang experiment
http://in.news.yahoo.com/43/20080910/982/tsc-bose-the-indian-behind-the-big-bang.html
Wed, Sep 10 05:44 PM
London, Sep 10 (IANS) Of the three main past and present physicists behind the landmark proton-smashing experiment in Geneva Wednesday, one has a Nobel Prize, the other is waiting to find out if he has one, and the third never got one.
The third man is the Bose of the Higgs-boson experiment - Satyendra Nath Bose.
It is Bose after whom the sub-atomic particle 'boson' is named - probably the only noun in the English language named after an Indian (and therefore never capitalised).
The $10 billion Large Hadron Collider experiment in Switzerland Wednesday could not have happened without Bose and Albert Einstein.
In 1924, Bose sent a paper to Einstein describing a statistical model that eventually led to the discovery of the Bose-Einstein condensate phenomenon.
The paper laid the basis for describing one of the two categories of the elementary particles that make up an atom - one was boson, and the other came to be known as fermion, after the Italian physicist Enrico Fermi.
Einstein had already won the Nobel in 1921 for services to theoretical physics and the discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect, and Fermi won it in 1938.
Decades later, in 1964, the British scientist Peter Higgs returned from a walk in the Scottish mountains to tell his colleagues that he had just experienced his 'one big idea,' which could hold a clue to how matter in the universe got its mass in the billionth of a second after the Big Bang.
Higgs eventually came up with his theory of the Higgs boson, a boson that gives mass to all other subatomic particles that happen to interact with it in a 'Higgs field'. The more they interact, the heavier they become. And the ones that don't interact don't gather mass.
The theory could not only throw further light on the creation of the universe, but also help explain the shape of it.
Wednesday's experiment at the European Centre for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland, where protons will be smashed against each other at great speed, will be the first attempt to actually observe the Higgs boson - nicknamed the 'God particle.' So far, it is the last undetected elementary particle, also called a fundamental particle, going by the standard theory of particle physics.
Higgs, who is professor emeritus at Edinburgh University, is now widely tipped to win the Nobel, particularly if the Higgs boson is detected.
The first Nobels for physics in the 21st century went jointly to three Americans - Eric Cornell, Carl Wieman and Wolfgang Ketterle. The won it for creating the 'condensate' - a new type of matter - that Bose and Einstein had postulated.
According to Bose's grandson Falguni Sarkar, six other physicists have won the Nobel for work in the area of Bose statistics.
However, for some reason, Satyendra Nath Bose himself never won the Nobel.
Sharon Ann Holgate, a British science writer and broadcaster who made an acclaimed radio documentary on Bose for the BBC some years ago, said she had no doubt the Indian deserved a Nobel.
'I certainly do think he deserved the Nobel. When I was researching my documentary I was outraged that this man was so brilliant, yet so overlooked, perhaps because of institutionalised racism. No one gave a damn because he was an Indian,' she told IANS.
'I was really angry, and wanted to make him a bit more widely known.' Holgate added.

Arise Awake! And stop not till the goal is reached.

- Swami Vivekananda

With chaste intention I submit my discovery with utmost humility without any desire for any recognisation since personnel of Azad Hind Fauz's (PBOR's of Union of India's Defence forces) are yet to be recognised for their selfless and silent sacrifices in the line of duty. I only wish that Indian should get their definition right and understand the preamble to the Constitution. So that Income Tax Return Form can be corrected to read as Indian (Bharatvasi) undivided Family instead of Hindu Undivided Family as it not in line with the Preamble to the Constitution.

I am only submitting what actually Shri Satyendranath Basu discovered but never told to the world lest Forces which work against universal brotherhood (Vasudha Ek Kutamb hey) will start prosecuting Indians as they did in case of Shri Subhaschandra Basu, the most decorated and feared Prisoner of War and they fear him till to date for they understand that he always will enter Union's Defence forces of course as a different human being and show to the world how a war (which as per my analysis will break out when competition to wrest control over Indian Ocean will take an ugly turn; most probably between July 2010 to August 2011) i.e. WW III will be ultimately won by India without firing a single bullet and shedding a single drop of blood that too by a one man army.

The finding are as follows - If one understands the relation of Truth(God or Brahm) and its creation (Brahmand) i.e. Hari Anant (infinite) and Hari Katha Anantha (eternal) but Sri Hari (Vishnu) is perfected as One who rests on Aadi Shesha ( Aadi means bigining i.e. Sun and Shesha means remamant that is what is left (Shesh) upto planet saturn i.e Finite). The point to understand is How come an Infinite can rest upon a Finite. Because infinite divided by finite is again infinite. There is a short cut in Calculus (a discovery by Indian undivided Family members) that if one wants to attempt at calculus problem, He or She can conclude beforehand whether the problem will have a solution or not by just substituting the limits as given and if the shortcut to the equation reads as infinite than it will definitely have a solution. This has been already discovered and perfected by a illitrate Sikh soldier of Indian Army just because for him Raghukul Reet Sada Chali Aayee, Pran Jayee par Vachan Na Jayee in that he is a patriot and his identity is a close guarded secret. Lest among us some may sell this to traitor. I understand it is hard to believe but than legacy of Netaji is like that.

Namaskar,

Chant this mantra daily for at least 21 times daily for removal of all sufferings and seeking prosperity from Goddess Parashakti

Excerpts from Guruji's blessings on Om TV Tuticorin
Om Parashakti Namo Namaha, dear bhakta koti, satsanga premi bhakta janaha, my salutations to all of you, good and bad things do not come from others, it is a result of your own sat karma and dushkarma . Each day from the time we get up till the next day (even in our sleep) we do lot of karma through our thoughts, actions, speech, etc and they can be good or bad. The almighty gives us seven chances to rectify our mistakes through seven janmas but we hardly realise this and blame him for everything and never thank him for the rewards and blessings he showers on us making our lives further miserable. One thing is for sure that the supreme power you may call it by any name is the most kind and benevolent energy which is ready to forgive our minor mistakes but we continue to do sin and sink ourselves deeper into worldly pleasures and continue harm others by our deeds and speech and actions. Just remember whatever we do would continue to be with us through our generations and our own janmas until and unless we do some good deeds to wipe off our bad debts it can not be written off. We got this human form due to our performance in our previous births but can be relegated to 84,00000 yonis or forms ranging from plants, insects, reptiles, mammals, etc if we do not improve our score. We can do puja, chanting, prayers, etc in whatever form or religion we may practice to get salvation and escape from this vicious circle of life and death. You can do annandhanam i.e distribution of food to the needy, do some charity, help others in need, be courteous, speak pleasant language, spread love, do not differentiate between people, there are thousands of things which does not costs you anything but which only you can do. So my dear devotees the solution lies with you as you are the problem. Mend your ways and make your life and others life happy and prosperous.

THE FUTURE OF INDIA

Children of India, I am here to speak to you today about some practical things, and my object in reminding you about the glories of the past is simply this. Many times have I been told that looking into the past only degenerates and leads to nothing, and that we should look to the future. That is true. But out of the past is built the future. Look back, therefore, as far as you can, drink deep of the eternal fountains that are behind, and after that, look forward, march forward and make India brighter, greater, much higher than she ever was. Our ancestors were great. We must first recall that. We must learn the elements of our being, the blood that courses in our veins; we must have faith in that blood and what it did in the past; and out of that faith and consciousness of past greatness, we must build an India yet greater than what she has been. There have been periods of decay and degradation. I do not attach much importance to them; we all know that. Such periods have been necessary. A mighty tree produces a beautiful ripe fruit. That fruit falls on the ground, it decays and rots, and out of that decay springs the root and the future tree, perhaps mightier than the first one. This period of decay through which we have passed was all the more necessary. Out of this decay is coming the India of the future; it is sprouting, its first leaves are already out; and a mighty, gigantic tree, the Urdhvamula, is here, already beginning to appear; and it is about that that I am going to speak to you.

With the giving up of quarrels all other improvements will come. When the life-blood is strong and pure, no disease germ can live in that body. Our life-blood is spirituality. If it flows clear, if it flows strong and pure and vigorous, everything is right; political, social, any other material defects, even the poverty of the land, will all be cured if that blood is pure. For if the disease germ be thrown out, nothing will be able to enter into the blood.

I do not mean to say that other things are not necessary. I do not mean to say that political or social improvements are not necessary, but what I mean is this, and I want you to bear it in mind, that they are secondary here and that spirituality is primary.

Discoveries: Cancer patients try alternatives; older neighborhoods good for you; Vitamin C used against cancer
HealthDay News, New York Times News Service August 10, 2008
Patients turn to alternatives
As many as 61 percent of cancer patients use complementary therapies such as prayer, relaxation, meditation and massage, researchers from the American Cancer Society report.

For the study, published in the Sept. 1 issue of Cancer, researchers collected data on 4,139 cancer survivors. Of these, 61.4 percent of the patients used prayer; 44.3 percent used relaxation techniques; 42.4 percent used faith/spiritual healing; 40.1 percent used nutritional supplements such as vitamins; 15 percent used meditation; 11.2 percent used massage; and 9.7 percent participated in support groups.

On the other hand, only 0.4 percent of the patients used hypnosis; 1 percent used biofeedback therapy; and 1.2 percent used acupressure or acupuncture.

The benefits of these therapies are still unclear, researchers said.
Thanks to western medical science, the common perception is that healing is associated just with the removal of symptoms. But actually healing implies returning to a state of alignment with our true selves. This is exactly what Reiki is all about.
Reiki is basically a Japanese form of healing and its popularity is mushrooming day-by-day across the globe. What makes it stand out among all healing practices is that it imbibes elements of just about each one of them, namely: spiritual healing, auras, chakra balancing, meditation, naturopathy and homeopathy. Reiki is a Japanese word derived from two words- ‘rei’ meaning ‘free passage’ and ‘ki’ meaning ‘vital life force energy’.
Reiki is believed to have originated in Tibet about thousands of years ago. Seers in the Orient studied energies in detail and came forward with a system of sounds and symbols for universal healing energies. This formed the basis for the root system. The credit for rediscovering this root system in the mid-to late 1800s goes to Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Christian educator from Kyoto. He taught Reiki in Japan until his death around 1893. In the present day, the two major forms of Reiki being practiced are: “the Usui System of Natural Healing” and “the Radiance Technique”.
The technique involves the Reiki practitioner gently resting his/her hands over the patient’s body in a series of hand positions in such a manner that covers the recipient’s head, trunk, legs and feet. A flow of energy through the practitioner’s hand to the client’s body occurs. Reiki healing energy functions by providing a means to balance Auras- the human energy fields, and Chakras- the energy centres, to create conditions requisite for the body’s healing system to work properly.
Reiki is a very powerful and beneficial form of healing. Reiki is useful in treating serious illnesses as well as minor ones. For e.g. sports injuries, cuts, burns, internal diseases, emotional disorders, and stress-related illnesses.
Some of the major benefits it provides to the receiver are listed below:
• A deep state of relaxation.
• Significant reduction in stress.
• Removal of symptoms.
• Aids spiritual growth and emotional clearing.
• Overall well-being.
Till now, Reiki appears to be a safe option. It induces a deep sense of tranquility and relaxation in the clients, so much so that they might also feel warm, tingly, sleepy and refreshed. As far as side effects of Reiki are concerned, none have been reported so far.
A person, who is interested in practicing Reiki, does not require any special credentials to receive training. The important thing to be borne in mind is that it must be learned from a person who is immensely experienced at it.
To sum up, Reiki is a simple, non-invasive, natural healing therapy that works by gently balancing life energies and thus improving the overall health of the patient.

A method of healing that is not medicine
The article entitled "Faith and Healing" in last Sunday's health section, while thought provoking, contained some factual inaccuracies. Foremost was the statement that "there's no solid proof of a causal relationship between religion/spirituality and improved health."

The very teaching and religion of Christ Jesus was indisputable evidence of the effect of a spiritual sense of life and spirit on the health and morals of those who were open to those teachings. The Gospel accounts are full of healing; Jesus instructed his disciples to do the same. And they did.

That evidence from the Bible has been brought forth today in the teachings of Mary Baker Eddy, a native of New Hampshire, in her book, "Science and Health" with Key to the Scriptures. She discovered, in 1866, what it was that produced these marvelous results.

She saw that real medicine was in mind, God, and therefore it was wholly spiritual. This discovery was based in the scriptures and born out in her life and works when she healed the same way that Christ Jesus expected and commanded his followers to do. He said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." This is what he did, and he did it without material medicine.

Eddy discovered that truth and taught how this could be done, and her followers have been doing the same healing work since she started teaching it in 1868.

Her book teaches it today, and the last 100 pages of that book are accounts of the most troublesome diseases that were healed without medicine of any kind by people who read the book.

Faith, coupled with a spiritual understanding of God, brings healing. This faith and understanding are not at odds with science, but are at the core of Christian Science.

"The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God – a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love." (Science and Health, p. 1).

I thought your readers would want to know that there is a causal relationship between spirituality and health, and that there is a method of healing that departs from material medicine.
Douglas Keith
Amherst

The FACTS of the healing that transcends human medicine are those who have been thus healed. The honest among practitioners of human medicine will and DO aknowledge these living and actual facts.

Christian Science, while a worthy practitioner of the higher healing, by no means possesses it.

I do not discredit any method or level of healing, merely say that the lower must inevitably bow to the higher.

Reiki: an art of healing

Dr. P.A.Abraham Professor of English Faculty of Education Sana’a University abbyraju@y.net.ye

Reiki (‘Ray-key’) is a Japanese word for Universal Life Energy. It is an ancient healing art rediscovered more than hundred years ago by Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Priest. It is defined as the power, which acts and lives in all created matter. This energy is everywhere in the universe and in abundance.
In this system Reiki practitioners or channels can pass on Universal Life Energy to themselves and others thereby energizing and healing them. Once a person has been opened up to become a “channel” of Reiki, life energy will flow through his/her hands of its own accord and he/she will retain this ability for the rest of the life. This energy can then be passed on to self or others simply by laying on hands. It is a simple “touch and heal” system. In fact, we are all born with this Universal life energy, but that our negative reaction to life events causes us to become less open with the result that the natural flow of energy is less pure and less available. Science recognizes the fact that the so-called solid objects are just densely vibrating energy that in fact there is no solid matter. Hermetic science also states “all is energy”. Energy is all around us and inside us as well. We constantly react and respond to energy without realizing it. Around us is an energy field which is referred to as “aura’. The aura has mainly three levels; emotional, mental and spiritual.
The atonement process of Reiki enables one to get in touch with the true essence. We tend to feel this essence or core self at times in our lives when we are in a heightened state of awareness. Reiki can provide the boost to help you develop that sense of awareness and with a daily practice of self-treatment, enables this awareness to grow. But Reiki needs a receptive ear. Our inner voice is the natural spokesperson for the wisdom of Universal Life Force Energy.

How does Reiki work?
The body is in fact energy vibrating at a certain frequency, and all its frequencies have their own natural flow. However, when we make a judgment about something (rather than discernment), the judgment gets stored in the cellular structure of the body in the form of a physical and/or emotional block. Emotions are a reaction to our thoughts or judgments about people and life’s situations. Since they distort the natural frequencies, negative thoughts or judgments are experienced as dense or uncomfortable vibrations. Such thoughts may turn into headaches, tension, stomachaches, ulcers etc. Anger, jealousy, greed, guilt, grief and other negative emotions can cause physical ailments. Plato has rightly pointed out that if you want to heal your body you must first heal your mind.
Through constant practice Reiki may actually heal all of these blockages by exposing them to the much higher vibratory frequency of Universal Life Force Energy, which can then penetrate and dissolve any blockages. Thus Reiki heals by calming the mind and raising the life force energy in the body. When we treat ourselves or someone with Reiki, we do this by laying our hands gently on various parts of the body with our fingers closed. We soon feel a kind of sensation in our palms like something flowing, warmth, pulling tingling etc. Each person reacts in a different way to Reiki and no general rule can be said to exist. The most common experience during a treatment is a sense of peace and relaxation and some even fall asleep. The effects of Reiki can be listed as follows:
• Reiki supports the body’s natural ability to heal itself. When practiced regularly it develops good health and resistance to sickness
• Reiki works on all levels- physical, emotional, mental and spiritual
• Reiki loosens up blocked energy and promotes the flow of energy thereby, providing a total relaxation
• Reiki energizes and balances body’s energy
• Reiki cleanses the poisons and toxins from the body
• Reiki is an extremely pleasant, holistic method of healing

Characteristics of a Reiki Treatment
• Reiki is always drawn and never given. Do not take credit or blame for the final result
• Reiki is an intelligent energy and follows its own logic, knowing where and to what extent it is required. Therefore it is not necessary to diagnose before treatment.
• There is no overdose of Reiki and it can never do any damage as it only flows in the area and quantity required by the recipient.
• No special kind of power or ability or knowledge is required for Reiki. It is simple and natural enough for anybody to learn and make use of.
• Reiki is passed only on request. Not without asking, except in case of family members and children, accidents and emergency.

Reiki Treatment
• Wear loose dresses comfortable for sitting or lying positions. Remove watches, Jewelry, rings, belts, wallets etc. Relax your mind and body and close your eyes.
• Wash hands before and after treatment
• You can sit in a comfortable position or lie down on a blanket or any sheet. Avoid sitting directly on ground. As far as possible keep the surrounding peaceful and serene and if possible, make a regular place for practicing Reiki.
• Start with an Attitude of Gratitude (Thank God for all the Blessings that you have, Thank yourself, Thank the Cosmic energy, Thank your parents and teachers…)
• Start with keeping your hands in cup shape, gently on various positions on your body. Follow from top to bottom wherever you feel the need of energy. Keep your hand for 3-5 minutes on each position. Problematical areas can be treated for more time (10-15) minutes, as required. If you know the positions of “Chakras”*on the body, try to give reiki on them.
• At the end once again thank yourself and Reiki.

Five Principles of Reiki
The first principle is: “ Just for today I will live with an attitude of gratitude”.
If we try to follow an attitude of gratitude, life becomes a never-ending expression of abundance. It is the tendency of human beings to concentrate on what we don’t have. Then we continue to experience the state of not having. As the saying goes “Count your Blessings’. If we begin to focus on all the good things that we have; our family, the beauty of nature, your education, your talents etc. a positive shift in our life will begin to occur. The greatest challenge is to maintain an attitude of gratitude when things go wrong.

The second Principle is: “Just for today, I will not worry”.
It is said that worry, hurry and curry are the root causes of all illness. Worry is a signal, which shows how stuck you are in the ego and its attachment to having things its way. It is one thing to have concern about our loved ones, or about taking care of business properly etc. It is quite another to keep on worrying about all these. Worrying over the past is also futile, as the past never exists. If you regret something you did in the past, feel your remorse fully until it dissipates and move on. Do not carry any guilt feelings, which are negative. If we brood over some past grievances, we start generating and experiencing negative emotions associated with the event, and though the event may be long gone, the emotions are refreshed and regenerated. The more we brood on this, more negative energy is generated. Each experience, whether good or bad should be considered as an opportunity.

The third Principle is: “Just for today I will not anger”.
Anger arises when the ego notices that things are not happening as you wish. An angry person generates negative vibration not only on himself but also in others. When you are angry, your blood pressure goes up and the whole atmosphere gets affected. The best emotional option is: ‘letting go’ of judging yourself and ‘the other’. It is really healing.

The fourth Principle is: “Just for today I will do my work honestly”.
Honesty is not only the best policy; it is also the safest policy. This principle addresses the need to choose a vocation, which helps you grow, and gives you a sense of fulfillment and you do the job that is allotted to you with commitment and sincerity. It also means that you need not be afraid of speaking the truth when required. To be true to yourself also means that we need to take time for ourselves, not be interrupted by anyone when you wish to be alone and it is essential for maintaining a peaceful existence. Eventually, the more we are willing to give to ourselves, the easier it will be t give to others in a natural way. Life is simpler, when we are true to ourselves.

The fifth Principle is: “Just for today I will show love and respect for all living beings”
Plants, animals, birds along with human beings are all parts of God’s creation and it is very important that we love and respect all living things. The weaker a living being is, the more sympathy and kindness it deserves.
The five Reiki principles given by Dr Usui, in fact, help us to improve the quality of our lives, even if you do not practice reiki. Dr. Usui probably recognized that, if used wisely, they would remove the cause of suffering and disease. If followed faithfully, these principles will lead to a more positive outlook towards life because, though they appear to be mere concepts and beliefs, they are totally wholesome and life affirming when integrated with daily practice of reiki.

*The word “Chakra” is derived from Sanskrit and means “Wheel”. Chakras are spiral energy centers, which exist in subtle energy body of ours and are responsible for the flow of energy throughout the body. It is said that there are seven major chakras and many minor chakras in our body. The seven major chakras are Root Chakra, Hara Chakra, Solar Plexus, Heart Chakra, Throat Chakra, Third Eye Chakra, and Crown Chakra. The chakras also correspond to mental and emotional states of a person and decide various aspects of ones behavior and development. A blockage in the energy flow of the chakra and excess energy can lead to imbalance and disharmony on physical, emotional, mental and spiritual values. These disturbances are often caused by psychological stress and trauma and painful experiences or excess of joy.

Therapeutic
Constant Remembrance is the ultimate therapeutic facility available to us. Because when you are remembering the Master, you cannot think of anything else, remember anything else. I make a very bold statement, a very bold claim, that it is the ultimate therapeutic measure beyond which there can be nothing else. Why? Because it is a Master we are remembering. It is a person with whom we have associated, whom we have loved, love still, in whom we have faith, who has performed so many things out of the ordinary, the most important being the transformation we see in ourselves.

Keep Walking.....

Jus to check this out......
The Organs of your body have their sensory touches at the bottom of your foot, if you massage these points you will find relief from aches and pains as you can see the heart is on the left foot.

Typically they are shown as points and arrows to show which organ it connects to.

It is indeed correct since the nerves connected to these organs terminate here.

This is covered in great details in Acupressure studies or textbooks.

God created our body so well that he thought of even this. He made us walk so that we will always be pressing these pressure points and thus keeping these organs activated at all times.

So, keep walking...

.. DRINK WATER ON EMPTY STOMACH
It is popular in Japan today to drink water immediately after waking up every morning. Furthermore, scientific tests have proven a its value. We publish below a description of use of water for our readers. For old and serious diseases as well as modern illnesses the water treatment had been found successful by a Japanese med ical society as a 100% cure for the following diseases:

Headache, body ache, heart system, arthritis, fast heart beat, epilepsy, excess fatness, bronchitis asthma, TB, meningitis, kidney and urine diseases, vomiting, ga str itis, diarrhea, piles, diabetes, constipation, all eye diseases, womb, cancer and men str ual diso rd ers, ear nose and throat diseases.

METHOD OF TREATMENT

1. As you wake up in the morning before brushing teeth, drink 4 x 160ml glasses of water .....interesting

2. Brush and clean the mouth but do not eat or drink anything for 45 minutes

3. After 45 minutes you may eat and drink as normal.

4. After 15 minutes of breakfast, lunch and dinner do not eat or drink anything for 2 hours

5. Those who are old or sick and are unable to drink 4 glasses of water at the beginning may commence by taking little water and gradually increase it to 4 glasses per day.

6. The above method of treatment will cure diseases of the sick and others can enjoy a healthy life.

The following list gives the number of days of treatment required to cure/control/reduce main diseases:

1. High Blood Pressure - 30 days

2. Gastric - 10 days

3. Diabetes - 30 days

4. Constipation - 10 days

5.. Cancer - 180 days

6. TB - 90 days

7. Arthritis patients should follow the above treatment only for 3 days in the 1st week, and from 2nd week onward s - daily.

This treatment method has no side effects, however at the commencement of treatment you may have to urinate a few times.

It is better if we continue this and make this procedure as a routine work in our life.

Drink Water and Stay healthy and Active.

This makes sense. The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals .not cold water. Maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating!!! Nothing to lose, everything to gain...

For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you.

It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed . It will slow down the digestion.

Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.

A serious note about heart attacks: Women should know that not every heart attack symptom is going to be the left arm hurting.

Be aware of intense pain in the jaw line.

You may never have the first chest pain during the course of a heart attack.

Nausea and intense sweating are also common symptoms.

60% of people who have a heart attack while they are asleep do not wake up.

Pain in the jaw can wake you from a sound sleep. Let's be careful and be aware. The more we know, the better chance we could survive...

Respected Sir/Madam,
Namaskar,

Shri P.S.Varadarajan (Guruji)

Shri Guruji believes in simple living and high thinking He does not believe in any outward show. He makes each and everyone feel at ease and is always ready to help everyone. When I (Hari Krishnamurthy) had gone to meet him in January 2007 during his visit to Delhi in connection with Kumbhabishekam of Sree Meenakshi Temple at Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi, I was overawed by his presence. I had wanted to ask him so many things but was dumbstruck in his presence. I felt I had got everything I wanted without even uttering a word. From that moment he was my Guru I had read some where that there is an oriental proverb “one need not search for a Guru, when the student is ready the teacher would just find him”. I found that proverb to be true in my case. In the last few months his grace has elevated me spiritually to a level beyond imagination. During his visit for Sarva Devata Homam in September 2007, he asked me to control my anger He had not asked anything from me but wanted me to be a better human being, so from that moment onwards I had shed my anger totally and till today I am enjoying the benefit. From a non existent common ordinary person, now people recognize me, respect me because of his benevolence. Without my asking Shri Guruji chants for me and my family and when I enquired about this to him he smilingly replied that he did this for all the people who had come into contact with him. This fact was confirmed by all others whom I met in the presence of Shri Guruji. We may have prejudices, petty quarrels with our own folk and here is a person who does not know any thing else but selfless love, affection and benevolence. I had then decided that if ever my life was to be dedicated to some one it was Shri Guruji. After taking this decision I consulted the matter with my wife and she too agreed. Since then I am doing what you all are experiencing. This vishwa kalyan issue too is just my way of submitting flowers at Shri Guruji’s feet. From November 2007 to this issue in August 2008, we have come a long way but there are miles to go and achieve the mission of Lokakshema “Welfare of the people. All of us belong to one family (Vasudeiva Kutumbakam) being brothers and sisters it becomes our duty to work for the welfare of our brothers and sisters. During last 18 months lot of friends, brothers, sisters joined us in this mission of lokakshema where we distributed food amongst under privileged, notebooks and stationery to students, performed pujas for prevention of terrorism, reduction of global warming, prevention of natural calamities like earthquake, tsunamis, etc. The Lokakshema International Mission Trust is a mission of the people, by the people, for the people.

I request you all too to kindly correct me, suggest, and guide me to make this news letter a useful and purposeful effort.

We welcome you all to benefit from the divine blessings of Shri Guruji and reduce your sufferings, problems, etc. Shri Guruji has no reservations about caste, creed, colour, nationality, religion, etc as he only believes in service to entire mankind as his mission. You may send in your queries to lokakshemamission @gmail.com.

Radhe Krishna To All,

Securing the company of a Sadhu is the result of good merits (`punya')

earned in crores of janmas. So says Adi Sankara in Viveka Choodamani. The

`janma' in which you attain a Sadguru is verily your last `janma'.

But, once the pain of the
suffering vanishes we forget the vow and step into the drama of life - only to suffer all over again! When a snake catches a frog, it takes almost a day for it to swallow the frog. Meanwhile the frog caught from behind has its face turned outwards. It puts out its tongue and keeps swallowing the flies that fall on to it! It is being pulled
into death in the form of the snake but the frog, unaware of it, is enjoying its food! The relatives
stopped crying and came out to find out in what way was this man Pattinathar) related to the dead. They asked him, "Who are you? We have never seen you before.

Dear Friends,
Vedas describe the origin of Brahmins in detail.
Poonal has sanctity of its own and one has to qualify himself for wearing it, not by birth alone but by practice.
Why is the belief in God so strong? Please answer!?
God is One with no name but has been given many, many names by humankind. The kingdom of God is closed to none who seek it with a pure heart. If you were a Loving Mystical Being, Creator of the Universe, would you set things up so simply that there was only one road leading to this kingdom you want all to share?

Ask any parent with multiple children. They have different personalities, different needs. Thus a parent must take different approaches in rearing them. And the way you parent a 4 yr old will be different than how you parent a 15 yr old.

Always know you are loved beyond your wildest dreams. A person's beliefs, not just religious beliefs, but all beliefs are their most personal possessions. Your beliefs are the foundation of everything you are, how you think, how you judge, how you relate to the world around you. They are, in effect, what makes you an individual. Is it any wonder then why belief-based arguments, be they religious, political or otherwise are often the most brutal? That which you're attacking or defending is, after all, the core of a persons very being.

A Difficult Judgment by Audiseshan Ramesh

In a small town in India, a person decided to open up his Bar business, which was right opposite to the Temple. The Temple its congregation started a campaign to block the Bar from opening with petitions and prayed daily against his business. Work progressed. However, when it was almost complete and was about to open a few days later, a strong lightning struck the Bar and it was burnt to the ground.

The temple folks were rather smug in their outlook after that, till the Bar owner sued the Temple authorities on the grounds that the Temple through its congregation prayers was ultimately responsible for the demise of his bar shop, either through direct or indirect actions or means.

In its reply to the court, the temple vehemently denied all responsibility or any connection that their prayers were reasons to the bar shop's demise. As the case made its way into court, the judge looked over the paperwork at the hearing and commented: I don't know how I'm going to decide this case, but it appears from the paperwork, 'we have a bar owner who believes in the power of prayer and we have an entire temple and its devotees that doesn't.'

Radhe Krishna To All,

One who has attained a Uttama Guru will be totally free from worries because he will exhibit steadfast faith in the Guru. He would say, "Even if I am the worst kind of sinner in this world my Guru will certainly uplift me." If, on the contrary, someone has a great Guru but does not have such faith in Him it only means that he has not really surrendered unto the Guru.

Once, while Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was bathing in the Holy Ganges, his ardent devotee Girish Chandra Gosh was standing on the banks of the river. Sri Ramakrishna asked him to bathe in the Ganges and Girish Chandra Gosh refused to do so. Sri Ramakrishna said to him, "If you don't observe such dharma then who else would?" Hearing the words of his Guru, Girish immediately took a dip in the Ganges. From then on he used to bathe in the Ganges quite frequently. At such times he would think, "It is said that when normal people bathe in the Ganges she cleanses them of their sins. But when a Mahan bathes in the Ganges, He cleanses the Ganges and enhances the purifying potential of the Ganges. My Guru, out of immense compassion, has taken away all my sins. So if I bathe here, the power of Ganges to cleanse and purify will increase hundredfold."

Since he was a fervent and superior Guru Bhakta, his Bhavam was also lofty.
Girish Chandra Gosh was renowned for his implicit faith and total surrender unto his Guru. He worshipped Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa verily as an incarnation of God. He spoke of his Guru as an "Avatara Purusha" to everyone he met.

Once after seeing a play about Prahlada, the great devotee of the Lord, at the Star Theatre, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was conversing with His disciples. Girish, who was also there, said to his Guru, "Master! I am a sinner who is beyond redemption. The very ground where I sit would become unholy. I utterly lack sincerity. Please bestow me with sincerity." To this Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa replied, "What can I bless? Sages like Sri Narada and Sri Shuka Deva would have been able to do that." Unrelentingly Girish said, "I don't see Sri Narada or Shuka Deva. You are the only God I know and You are standing right before me. Please do not refuse." Immensely pleased with the deep faith of his beloved disciple, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa smilingly blessed him saying, "All right! So be it! You have such a faith!"
Such was the faith that this great disciple had which his Guru acknowledged lovingly.

Girish Chandra Ghosh was a man full of vices. Name the vice and he had it. However, he had deep affection for Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. Ramakrishna asked him to chant the Lord's Divine Name every morning and evening. Girish Chandra Ghosh said, "I cannot. It is not possible for me to chant the Divine Name every morning and evening."

Paramahamsa said, "Well! Chant it just before you take your meals." Girish Chandra Ghosh, "No, Sir! This is not possible for me!" Paramahamsa said, "Well! Chant just once before going to bed."

Girish, "No! This, too, is not possible for me!"

Paramahamsa said, "Well! then, surrender to me. I will take care of you. I will take you to Moksha. Give the power of attorney to me."
Girish Chandra's joy knew no bounds. He thought, `what fortune! I can lead my life as I have been living. The Master will do japa for me and take me to Moksha.'

At once he gave his power of attorney to Paramahamsa.

But, what happened after this? The moment Girish lifted the wine bottle he saw Ramakrishna's face on the bottle. He could not drink. When he visited any woman for company he saw Ramakrishna in her and could not go near her. Girish was unable to carry on life in his old style. He thought, `I thought that surrender was very easy. But, it is not so.' Every moment, in all actions, he saw only the Master. He just could not forget him.

Girish Chandra Gosh boldly proclaimed to the world that his Master was an incarnation. Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was also fully aware of Girish's conviction.

One day, while Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was taking a walk in the garden with his devotees at his heels, he said to Girish, "Girish! What do you see in me that you tell everyone that I am an incarnation?" Girish at once fell on his knees before his Master and with a voice choked with emotion said, "What can I say about the One whose glories even great sages like Vyasa and Valmiki couldn't describe enough!" Moved by the words of this great disciple, Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa said, "What more can I tell? Be illumined!" Saying so Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa touched all the devotees present there and blessed them with Spiritual awakening.
Thus, Girish displayed deep faith and love that moved his Guru to bless not just him but all the devotees. This day, January 1(1886), is lovingly remembered as the `Kalpataru Day' when the love of a disciple made his Guru a `Wish-fulfilling tree'!

===============================
In the cosmos, just as Mother Tiripurasundari is the main cause for all the activities, the Kundalini Shakthi in us is the primordial force of all our actions. That is why the Goddess is also known as Maha Kundalini.
The coiled up serpent, Kundalini, rises up with Her immeasurable Yogic powers and reaches the Sahasrara Padma in the head. All religions have originated from this experience of the Kundalini Shakti uniting with the Sahasrara. That is why the Goddess is extolled as Samayachara Tatpara.
This Shakti takes the form of Agni. When this Shakti is roused, it courses its way upwards like a serpent dancing with its hood spread. The pervasive power is symbolized by the serpent's spread-out hood, and the concentration power by the serpent's closed mouth.
Mother Tiripurasundari is the divine form of Kundalini Shakti. That Goddess, who bestows on us all auspiciousness, should be worshipped in the Hridaya Kamalam, the Lotus of one's Heart.

Personal Experiences of people (names kept secret on request)

I was jobless for about six months in 2003 and was facing lot of difficulty in getting a new suitable job. My uncle asked me to contact Guruji and told me he would solve my problem. Though I did not believe him but I thought I there was no harm in trying so I contacted him in Chennai and gave my uncle’s reference. My uncle had already spoken to Guruji about me, but I was surprised to find a simple person who was kind and courteous unlike some of the so called Guruji’s(no intention to blame anybody)ad asked my details and started his chanting and within few minutes he told me to conduct Vishnu sahasranama chanting to be done by 9 people and to feed them after the Puja and this was to be done within 45 days and he assured me that I would get a very good job and I performed the same as per his directions and within a week of performing the puja I got a call from Delhi to attend an interview and was offered the post of Asstt. Manager in that Company with twice the salary what I was getting in my previous employment. Now I am transferred back to Chennai and living happily with my family. I don’t know how to repay the debt to Guruji? Always you can contact me for any kind of help for the Trust he has formed. (GS Chennai)

MAYA AND ILLUSION - Swam Vivekananda
Attempts have been made in Germany to build a system of philosophy on the basis that the Infinite has become the finite. Such attempts are also made in England. And the analysis of the position of these philosophers is this, that the Infinite is trying to express itself in this universe, and that there will come a time when the Infinite will succeed in doing so. It is all very well, and we have used the words Infinite and manifestation and expression, and so on, but philosophers naturally ask for a logical fundamental basis for the statement that the finite can fully express the Infinite. The Absolute and the Infinite can become this universe only by limitation. Everything must be limited that comes through the senses, or through the mind, or through the intellect; and for the limited to be the unlimited is simply absurd, and can never be. The Vedanta, on the other hand, says that it is true that the Absolute or the Infinite is trying to express itself in the finite, but there will come a time when it will find that it is impossible, and it will then have to beat a retreat, and this beating a retreat means renunciation which is the real beginning of religion. Nowadays it is very hard even to talk of renunciation. It was said of me in America that I was a man who came out of a land that had been dead and buried for five thousand years, and talked of renunciation. So says, perhaps, the English philosopher. Yet it is true that that is the only path to religion. Renounce and give up. What did Christ say? "He that loseth his life for my sake shall find it." Again and again did he preach renunciation as the only way to perfection? There comes a time when the mind awakes from this long and dreary dream -- the child gives up its play and wants to go back to its mother. It finds the truth of the statement, "Desire is never satisfied by the enjoyment of desires, it only increases the more, as fire, when butter is poured upon it."
